Sigma 6 is a leading manufacturer of electronic input devices and is a world-class contract manufacturer. These capabilities accelerate design cycles for customers and reduce production costs. In addition, Sigma 6 provides customers with off-shore pricing in the US. The world’s largest industry is electronics, and over the long term, demand for input devices and manufacturing services support make Sigma 6’s role more important and our contribution more valuable. Sigma 6 is enabling user input ease and flexibility in the next generation applications such as of security keypads, cell phones, climate control, ATM’s, consumer and industrial touch screens, automotive dash-boards and creature comforts, and hand-held appliances. We set performance and architecture standards for input devices:
We allow more functions on hand-held instruments, raising the bar for embedded designs, providing input functions for as many as 16 functions per square inch
We enable small, start-up and medium sized companies compete in the marketplace by supporting their manufacturing efforts by eliminating “minimums”
We support our customers quest for cycle time reductions by providing quick prototype services
Company History
Sigma 6 was founded in 1991 and became a premier independent remanufacturer of photocopiers. As personal and professional usage of photocopiers evolved into the usage of computer peripheral printing devices, coupled by the growing use by small and medium equipment manufacturers to the outsourcing of manufacturing and assembly, Sigma 6 transformed its manufacturing capabilities into world-class contract manufacturing and related services.
In addition to contract manufacturing, a broad platform of these services included:
engineering, design and prototyping services
printed circuit board depot repair and advance exchange
diagnostics and repair to the component level
desoldering services and chip removal
live testing on 100% of repaired boards
accurate ESD measurements administered throughout processes
asset recovery services
demanufacturing and recycling to reclaim valuable assets which support environmental protection
end-of-life product cycle management
Recognizing the unique manufacturing capabilities and explosive application of their enabling manufacturing capabilities, in 2002, Sigma 6 acquired 100% of the product, design and manufacturing assets of Silver Graphics. In operation for almost three decades, Silver Graphics was a pioneer in the development of membrane switches and the emerging use of these components in both consumer and industrial applications. As many end products continue to shrink in size, Silver Graphics has followed the trend by supplying devices that can continue to add functions for end users while reducing size of the end product, and cost to the manufacturer.
Membrane Switch Products
As a result of this acquisition, Sigma 6 is delivering enabling electronic input technology to a host of industries including aerospace, appliance, automotive, computers and peripherals, consumer electronics, industrial controls, marine, medical, point-of-purchase and telecommunications.
The products include:
Membrane Switches such as tactile or non tactile, metal and polyester domes, rubber keypads, built-in mouse pads, EMI/RFI or ESD shielding, PCB, flexible kapton or polyester backed switches
ITO Touch Screens offering both standard and custom configurations in both film-to-film and film-to-glass designs with matrix resistive construction
Applications for these devices include: audio and video controls, automotive controls, ATM machines, cardiovascular monitoring control panels, cash registers, cell phones, chemical sensors, climate measuring apparatus, electronic measuring equipment, exercise equipment, gas pumps, household appliances, IV machine panels, orthopedic bed controls, remote controls, scales, seat comfort controls, security keypads, soil testers and water testers.
Sigma 6 Marketing Strategy
Sigma 6 membrane switch and ITO products focus on applications where our enabling technology will allow customers to design-in and deliver more functions in their end-product applications.
Smaller and more…These are the cornerstones of most next-generation designs. As consumers and users of devices accelerate their multi-tasking life-styles and work environments, so the expectation of more device functions and smaller, portable size are demanded. Sigma 6 is positioned to provide a design edge to the OEM across the board in a broad spectrum of markets.
